A travelling festival to activate the body of towns and villages.
Escenarios de Piedra is reborn as an evolution of Danzar la Sierra and consolidates as a travelling festival of dance and movement that brings contemporary work to different municipalities across Spain where cultural provision is more limited. Its site-specific format means each artistic intervention adapts to the unique spaces and corners of every location, transforming squares, streets, and heritage sites into ephemeral stages where art and place merge into a memorable experience.
The festival is committed to decentralising culture and creating a direct connection with new audiences, especially young people and families, through an accessible, high-quality programme. Each edition aims to leave a mark on the territory: we activate a participatory experience that integrates the local community and strengthens its bond with dance and movement.
What does Escenarios de Piedra feel like? The festival can take place over one or several days, adapting to the needs and timing of each municipality. The experience usually combines performances in public space with participation and mediation activities, such as workshops or labs for young people and families, moments of encounter with the audience, and collaboration with local partners (dance schools, cultural associations, and local artists), so that each edition is built in dialogue with the identity and spaces of the town.
Escenarios de Piedra programmes professional work in collaboration with Red a Cielo Abierto and with the support of INAEM, combining presentation, mediation, and participation to strengthen the local cultural ecosystem. From a plural and diverse perspective, we give visibility to emerging artists and young creators, promoting an inclusive and sustainable cultural model.
Thanks to its flexible, adaptable nature, the festival enables towns with more limited resources to include a high-quality artistic event in their cultural programmes, energising community life and creating a genuine meeting point between culture, place, and citizens.
